Introduction to Cued Speech
Participants will learn the Cued Speech system of 8 handshapes and 4 vowel placements and how to combine the handshapes with the placements to convey all of the sounds of spoken language, syllable by syllable. They will learn the basic rules of Cued Speech and should be able to Cue words and simple sentences by the end of the day. They will learn effective practice techniques and will be given practice materials to take home. |
Cued Speech Part 2: What now?
Review of Introduction to Cued Speech Part 1 Workshop. The focus will be on developing the participants’ cueing fluency and accuracy so they begin to develop confidence and automaticity in their cueing skills. We will work on liaisons, multi-syllabic words and simple conversational skills. Specific areas of need of individual participants will also be addressed. Attending both an Introduction to Cued Speech Parts 1 and Part 2 Workshops is highly recommended. Mastery of the Cued Speech system and development of basic fluency requires 10-20 hours of instruction with additional practice hours. |
Cued Speech Enhancements
Continued practice on fluency and accuracy. Specific feedback will be given to increase and strengthen comfort levels in using Cued Speech. |
