Tribute to Mary Ann Lachman
Welcome to the Alexander Graham Bell Montessori School website!
Whether you're looking for a preschool to jump start your child's education, or
an alternative to traditional elementary school that provides a more individualized,
holistic education, we invite you to come on in and explore all that Montessori
has to offer children ages 15 months to 12 years.
Our student/teacher ratio is on average 12:1 - compared to a national average public
school ratio of 18:1. Our enriched curriculum includes foreign language, music,
art, film appreciation, physical education and individualized reading instruction.
And our new state-of-the-art facility, completed in the fall of 2008, is both beautiful
and respects the environment by adhering to 'green' building standards.
AGBMS has been designated as a model site by the American Montessori Society (AMS),
and serves as an official practicum and observation site for National Louis University,
Illinois State University, and Northern Illinois University. Our teachers are all
certified by the AMS, and many have won national awards for excellence. Read on-
and then stop in for a visit!
Why should you donate to AGBMS/AEHI?

AEHI presents, with invaluable sponsorship from the Ronald and
Mary Ann Lachman Foundation,
"The Cutting
Edge: Implants, Auditory Neuropathy, Literacy,
Visual Phonics, and Cued
Speech"
January 27-29, 2012, at the Hilton Chicago,
720 S. Michigan Avenue
...a professional development seminar that will benefit deaf services professionals and
the children that they serve -- as well as parents of deaf children and children
with auditory neuropathy.
The topics that will be covered transcend traditional "boundaries" of philosophical
and technological "choices in deafness", and freely mix and match Cued Speech with other
successful technological and educational tools, with the objective of helping
children who are deaf or have auditory neuropathy to develop age-appropriate language
and literacy skills as well as the best possible speech perception abilities.
