I was born in Mexico and moved to California in 2000. The following year I had a daughter who was born deaf; life changed for the family at that time. I had to learn English and sign language almost simultaneously. In 2003 I moved to Wheeling, IL and the following year I had the opportunity to work in a Montessori school. I love the method and philosophy and I remain impressed with the way the children learn, socialize, develop language skills and become independent and self-sufficient. I moved to AGBMS and have since become the Montessori Directress for the Dandelion room, a Children’s House program. I began my work at AGBMS in 2012 as an Intern while completing my Montessori Certification. I returned in 2017 joining the AGBMS team as a full-time employee and have worked in the AGBMS infant, toddler, and Children’s House programs. I have fourteen years of experience teaching and assisting in Montessori environments and 7 years in Mexico as a teacher.
I love to sing, dance, and help frightened children adapt into a classroom environment. Through my experience I have learned that inclusion is the key to every child’s success. It doesn’t matter what nationality or what language is spoken, all children are welcomed with open arms and compassionate hearts.
I am a firm believer that a Montessori educational environment is like no other. It helps children to develop within themselves the foundational habits, skills, attitudes, and ideas which are essential for a lifetime of creative thinking and learning. I am excited to share my knowledge and love of the Montessori philosophy with the students and families of AGBMS.
