In the AGBMS-AEHI infant program, each child is nurtured as a unique individual, encouraged to explore in a beautiful, safe, and orderly space with materials carefully chosen for their educational purpose and sensory qualities. A critical opportunity for development, these first years of life are an extraordinary period of cognitive and emotional growth, brain development, and language acquisition. Our infant and toddler Montessori-trained teachers form close bonds with the children, nurturing language and body awareness development through freedom of movement and exploration. Under their care, the children establish a strong sense of security and autonomy, laying a foundation for lifelong learning.
From birth, babies are marvelous learners, immediately investigating the sights, sounds, and feel of the world. In our classrooms, each child develops a sense of being a separate, independent self, which comes from being treated as an important individual.
Our Montessori curriculum provides infants with a safe, rich world full of opportunities for active exploration and enjoyment through hearing, feeling, touching, and moving. Their world at Alexander Graham Bell is filled with responsive interactions and language: many conversations with others, books (for even the youngest babies), songs, and lots of listening and responding to their vocalizations.
Spanish, music including Music Together, baby sign language and early literacy activities enrich our infants’ daily experiences. Campus “field trips” in the baby buggy and time to explore their specially designed outdoor environment provide infants with a view of the real world via a fantastic array of sensory stimulation.
Our program is designed for comprehensive individual development at the child’s natural pace. Caring and learning are inseparable. Primary caregivers provide “on demand” care in an environment that maximizes mobility. A baby who feels safe also feels free to grow, move, and explore the surroundings. This provides an optimal opportunity to engage emerging physical, sensorial, perceptual, cognitive, and social skills.

Toddlers love the nurturing extension of home while attending our program. Independence, self-confidence, self-esteem, creativity and language development are fostered in a caring, fun, and educational environment. Full day and half-day programs are available.
We have two toddler classrooms, Our Nest and The Garden, for children ages 15 months to 3 years old. The program options for this age group are:
Morning (8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)
Full Day (9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.)
Both 3 day and 5 day programs are available. Before-school care starting at 7:30 a.m. and after-school care continuing until 6:00 p.m. is available to enrolled students. Hot lunch and healthy snacks are included in both programs.
Children enjoy a nurturing and stimulating environment as they take their first tentative steps away from home. Children are free to play, learn, and explore at their own pace. Teachers support their natural curiosity by offering materials, asking questions, and encouraging exploration. The Montessori curriculum for these ages is designed to:
Foster independence and self-confidence through hands-on materials
Build self-esteem through practical life activities such as hand washing, simple food preparation, and caring for plants.
Build vocabulary through conversation, vocabulary cards and objects, sound games, labeling, and classification materials.
Encourage creativity, verbal skills and focus through color matching, block play, and art projects.
Children’s natural developmental stages are addressed through the following activities:
Language: Children are encouraged to talk with friends and express themselves verbally through stories and songs, as well as social interaction at lunch and snack time.
Motor Skills: Large group time each morning includes songs and movement exercises that engage the child’s brain and body. Playground time, part of our day in all kinds of weather, gives children a chance to develop both motor and social skills – and have fun!
Toilet Learning: Familiarity with the bathroom and proper toileting skills are introduced at this age.
