Dear Families,
Stanford Achievement Testing week is already next week (March 14-18). It is important that students get enough sleep and eat breakfast every day, so they are ready for testing each day. Students will be completing 1-2 subtests each morning with breaks in between tests. They may bring books from home or quiet games to play while they are waiting to test. Students will read quietly or free-write during the first non-test portion of the morning and will be allowed to play quiet games during the second non-testing portion of the morning. In the afternoons, students will have group activities and their normal specials.
"Start The Day Off Right" cereal drive. Cereal is one of the most desired products at local food pantries because we all know how important it is to start the day off right with a full stomach. We have challenged the kids in the entire school to bring in boxes of cereal all the way up until spring break to donate to local food pantries. The goal is to bring in enough cereal boxes to line the entire main hallway like a domino run. Please send in all cereal boxes by Friday, March 18th.
Friday, March 18, is the last day of testing and the last day of school before spring break. It is also the official day of the Holi festival, which is a popular Hindu celebration, often called the "Festival of Love," "Festival of Colours" or "Festival of Spring." It celebrates the changing of seasons from winter to spring and the triumph of good over evil. Last year, we had a color war of our own and the students have asked to bring that back. Although the chalk powder is completely safe and does wash out, we ask that students bring clothing that is okay to get ruined. We also strongly suggest that you bring a towel or a sheet for them to sit on for the ride home.
Spring Break is March 21-25 and the building will be closed.
Spring Conference sign-up will be sent out after spring break.
Ms. Heidi, Ms. Jackie, and Ms. Amanda
