What the Experts Say

What is Montessori?
Our Children’s House offers a variety of programs for ages 3-6: (continued)

Children can also stay for a
full day program from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  After lunch the children who are three and four take a nap.  A staff member reads the nappers a story and helps each child get comfortable on their mat.  The lights are turned off with one dim light left on.

The five and six year old children do not nap.  There is a 15 to 20 minute rest time before these children begin their Extended Day.  This is the time of day reserved for the older child.  They engage in advanced math, reading, geography, natural science and special projects.  We believe that continuing Montessori education at the kindergarten level is an important culmination of the mental and intellectual tasks the child has begun in Children’s House.  In this third year of the Montessori cycle the
Extended Day kindergarten program provides an opportunity to solidify your child’s experiences, and lays the ground work for what is yet to come in Montessori elementary.

AGBMS also offers an
introductory half-day program.  This allows a child to attend for three half days the first semester and five half days the second semester.  This helps children who have never been away from home adjust to their new schedule.
